This joyful piece was created as one of a triptych for three women who each wanted a piece to hang in their respective homes that symbolised an aspect of their individual personality and style, but that also functioned as a triptych to show the importance of their lifelong friendship and connection to one another. However I had so many people interested in this piece and feeling it connected with their personality as well and so I decided to release these limited edition prints.
El Campo
50cm x 100cm
Acrylic on Unbleached Linen
This multicoloured abstract still life was created gathering drawings, photos and colours from walks in the countryside in gorgeous southern Spain, using imagery of the plants that grow all over the valleys and the objects that people decorate their beautiful homes with. Created in August and September, the temperature in the day can be up to 40 degrees centigrade and so long walks are only possible in the evening and the sun casts beautiful long shadows across the floor. This piece contains a snapshot of the warmth and vibrance of the setting sun in the wonderful Spanish countryside.
Should have been 100 Cacti
100cm x 100cm
Acrylic on Deep Edged Canvas
My practice involves creating abstract still life scenarios that examine our relationship to our understanding of 'home'. Whenever I move house, the first thing I need in my home is plants, this painting was made in response to a visit to the local botanical gardens and being struck by the variety and beauty of the cacti on display. The need to have as many of them as possible in my home meant that I had to both buy as many as possible and paint as many as possible.

My interpretation of the absolutely brilliant initiative called s'Still Here Still Life' in which artists are given a photo prompt for this week and asked to interpret it however they want. Absolutely love this set up and the fact it contains so many wonderful colours! The original set up had a red and white checked tablecloth background which I loved but I have painted twice in recent works so I decided to make it own and change it to blue.
