'Mrs Doubtfire'
2023 Shaftesbury Theatre
Mrs Doubtfire opened in London in 2023, this is a wonderful show with a couple of cloth pieces that I worked on with two other painters. One depicting an American city skyline and one a 90's childrens TV show. Both I scaled up from the designers drawings and then painted in full.

'Moulin Rouge'
2022 Das Musical Cologne
Moulin Rouge was an incredible show that opened on broadway in the US then came to the west end, I was working abroad when the London production was being created so I came in as head painter on the production for the Das Musical Theatre in Cologne. I was lead painter on Satine's Boudoir and the Monmarte Brick Walls. I also both textured in full and painted the beautiful eyes of the Moulin Rouge elephant, which was carved and its skin painted by one of my colleagues.

'Eureka Day'
2022 Old Vic Theatre
This show was my first prodcution post pandemic and an incredibly apt one at that. I worked on mapping out the paper chain style figures, plotting them on and then painting them into position both in the workshop and one site once the show had been installed. These figures had both coloured dottles and UV paint dottles in a variety of colours.

I was one of the head painters and head of the painting workshop at souvenir scenic studios to work on all aspects of the scenery for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for productions worldwide. Sanding, staining, spraying and glazing the floor, texturing, wood graining flogging and ageing the wood panelling, texturing, spraying, glazing and rusting the metal work, and spraying and creating trompe l'oeil effects on the front cloth to name a few. I also travelled with the show to Hamburg for paint calls as it was installed and to Amsterdam for tests on the floor mechanics and final floor touch ups before the set was sent to its home in international theatres.
'Arabian Nights'
2020-2021 LH2 London
2020-2021 LH2 London
This truck was for an international production of Arabian Nights that was rehearsing in London at LH2, the barrels and cleats are fibre glass casts, that I textured, painted and aged, these were completed in a day for a quick turn around and the use of the textures in the casts themselves adding highlights and shadowing was key in making these pieces stand out as much as possible.
'Mirabeau'
2020 Taste of London
2020 Taste of London
These pieces were wooden structures painted with a soft white wash and sanded back to resemble the soft white washed wooden floors and furnishings of french country bedrooms and homes with added hand painted text, also sanded back to add an ageing effect, Mirabeau are a french sparkling rose and gin company based in Provence and these pieces made up the bars and furnishings for the season of summer events beginning at Taste of London.
'Back to the Future'
2019-2020 Adelphi Theatre London
2019-2020 Adelphi Theatre London
While on recently opened, therefore I am unable to upload photos of the full show and all aspects of the scenery online, one aspect of the stage show that I worked on was these statues of Neptune for the 'Enchantment under the sea' dance scene, flat wooden figures painted with trompe l'oeil affect to resemble sculptures with added sculptural elements in the form on polystyrene carving on the fabric, sea floor, hands and feet.
'& Juliet'

2023 Regent Theatre Melbourne
2019 Shaftesbury Theatre London
This production of & Juliet was a scenic artists dream to work on, full of wonderful colours, beautiful hand painted details and lots of ageing, rusting and crackle glazing. For this show I lead a team of scenic artists in creating the necessary finishes on the floor, brick walls, house, lettering and all the column details, this show required texturing the majority of the scenery with idenden and artex, applying a base coat of colour, crackle glazes and matching colours to hand paint design details. The other head painter and I also had the pleasure of texture and painting the brick work and then scaling up and painting these spray paint grafitti faces by hand onto the walls as well.
'Present Laughter'
2019 The Old Vic Theatre London
2019 The Old Vic Theatre London
For this scenery myself and the other head painter applied a base coat of silver to the entire set and then worked on spraying a bottled ombre of blue, beginning with a rich Prussian blue at the very top working down through ultra and green shade blue to soften into silver at the base. This was a slow gradual process to ensure an even application of paint and natural uniform ombre across all sections of the set. Once again I went on site on paint calls to install the scenery and touch up any damage or natural wear and tear.
'Book of Mormon'
2019 UK and Europe Tour
2019 UK and Europe Tour
This show was originally created for the London stage by Souvenir in 2013, as such a have completed many paint calls on the floor over my time spent at souvenir, as approximately every 8-10 months the floor, due to the dance numbers in the show, needs a repaint, therefore when the show needed to be created for the UK and Europe tour it was joy to be able to create every aspect from scratch. I worked solo on drawing up, texturing, painting and ageing of the african house structures, process displayed below and painting the rusted metal and damaged woodwork that the props team would transform into the single african hut and sign post in the photo above. I also lead the team in painting the stained glass windows and textured glittered finish for the proscenium arch and myself and Ian Ramshaw, another head painter at Souvenir marked out and painted the stage floor working off the designer drawings to colour match and mark out and used HATO paints to create the starry night sky cloth to be displayed above the proscenium.
'Come From Away'

2024 UK Tour
2018 Phoenix Theatre London
Come from away was a beautiful set to create and work on involving almost exclusively staining and texturing scenic finishes onto wood work, I was part of the team staining and texturing the floor and the walls and applying pieces of bark (made out of idenden) to the trees and aiding with the paint finish on them as well. I also mapped out the positioning of the clouds on the back wall and sprayed them in white with the other head painter and went on site to install the show and do any necessary paint calls and touch ups.
'Alexander McQueen SS19'
2018
2018
These rock sculptures were carved by the props department out of polystyrene and then covered with Jesmonite to give them strength and texture, I then worked with the other head painter to apply thin layers of sand and paint to give them a hyper real finish and then spraying in shadows and highlights and applying pieces of moss. I then assisted in Paris with the installation of the sculptures, applying the printed McQueen fabrics and their transfer to the show room one the catwalk show had finished.

2017 Broadway Revival
2018 US Tour
We created this statue of liberty head twice for Miss Saigon, first for the broadway revival and and secondly for the US Tour, the first time I worked as part of the team texturing, gilding and painting, while the second time I mapped out the cut out pattern across the face for the props team and once cut, lead the team in texturing, gilding and worked on the final paint finish with the other head painter.
'Long Day's Journey into Night'
2018 Wyndhams Theatre London
2018 Wyndhams Theatre London
A Long Day's Journey into Night premiered first on Broadway before showing on the west end, therefore as a team we worked directly to replicate the scenic finishes created for the broadway show, we were sent a collection of show samples and the scaled down designer drawings and original model pieces so that we could match the colours and paint finishes but fit it to the smaller scale that our west end production required. This involved working as part of the team painting the acrylic wall panels with FEV to mirror the forms we painted onto the floor.
'Space Force Construction'
2017 Venice Biennale
2017 Venice Biennale
This piece I painted as part of the team at Souvenir Scenic Studios, the design was taken from Alexander Rodchenko's 'The Workers Club' and this was a recreation of that design to display alongside the Venice Biennale as part of the 'Space, Force, Construction' exhibition. Much like the McQueen SS18 show this artwork required impeccable attention to detail and precision and therefore the focus was on perfect colour matches, perfect mitred edges and a smooth final glaze.
'Ferryman'
2017 Royal Court Theatre London
2017-2018 Gielgud Theatre London
2017 Royal Court Theatre London
2017-2018 Gielgud Theatre London
For this show 'Ferry Man', my role in the scenery involved working with the team texturing, painting and ageing the ceilings with a broken plaster finish, the poly-carved stone walls, the wooden ceiling beams, the stone slab floor and the brick exterior wall. We then installed the set first in the workshops in order to age into the corners and around the wood beams and then on site texturing and ageing over joints between set pieces.
'Venus in Furs'
2017 Theatre Royal Haymarket London
2017 Theatre Royal Haymarket London
The show Venus in Furs at Theatre Royal Haymarket was my first paint call in theatre, I worked with the team on creating the stained wooden floors, decorated, textures and aged ceiling and dirtied, broken windows that made up the body of the set, I then went on site to install and painted in props pieces, painting the strip lights with colours to represent tobacco staining and further dirtying the windows and the floor around the props pieces.
'Alexander McQueen SS18'
2017
2017
This was one of the first McQueen Paris Fashion Week shows that I had the pleasure of working on, we painted large metal frames to displayed the elaborate embroidered fabric created by the McQueen team. The fashion week shows are always about impeccable attention to detail and precision and therefore the focus was on perfect colour matches, perfect mitred edges and a smooth final glaze. I was part of the team that installed the show in Paris and transferred it post show to the show room.
'Gucci - Pre-Fall Campaign'
2017
2017
For this scenery I worked with a team on the Gucci Pre-Fall campaign, the design was a 70's style set which we created with a large wooden structure decorated with fibre glass castings, painted and glazed and props in the form of aged homemade style speaker towers, with hand painted font and added decorative details.
'Angels in America'
2017 National Theatre London
2017 National Theatre London
For the national theatres 2017 production of Angels in America I used silver and black metal shield to create a tarnished effect over the steel structure created above, this structure was made in a mix of metals that needed to be matched in with added light fixings, weld marks and general structural additions.
'Matilda'
2017 UK and Ireland Tour
2018 International Tour
2017 UK and Ireland Tour
2018 International Tour
I worked twice on the scenery for the Matilda the Musical, first for the UK and Ireland Tour in 2017, my role was as part of the team painting the floor and the tiles for the portals, and again for the international Tour that began in Cape Town in 2018, once again I was one of the two head painters and head of the paint workshop therefore I lead the team in the painting of the floor and the tiles for the portals, these were soft woodgrain finishes built up with thin paint washes in different tones on wood, vac-formed plastic and light-boxes for different aspects of the set, these were then sealed with matt glaze and washes of colours and letters added to pick out the detailed colourful finishes in the designer model box. I also painted the dolls-house as a solo project, this was also painted entirely white and glazed and then a wash applied and rubbed bag to give the aged look and pick out of the details of the piece.
'Bat Out of Hell'

2018 Dominion Theatre London
2016 London Coliseum Theatre
2018 Dominion Theatre London
This was one of my first scenic projects when I joined the team at Souvenir Scenic Studios, fresh out of a Fine Art degree I learnt scenic skills on the job, assisting with the carving and sanding of the polystyrene structures, covering with foil, fibre glassing, texturing and being taught the final paint finish, this was a brilliant job to learn a lot of techniques in a very short space of time. This show was then expanded for its return to London at the Dominion Theatre in 2018 and when it returned to the workshops I was in the position of one of the two head painters and lead the team in creating new scenic pieces to expand the set seamlessly.
